Joe began recording music on a Tascam 4-Track at the age of 15. Pursuing his passion led him to study Recording Industry Management at Middle Tennessee State University and Recording Arts at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts College. After completing school, Joe went on to be an Assistant Engineer at Chicago's legendary Gravity Studios, working under the mentorship of Doug McBride. Simultaneously working at Chicago's premier venue, Lincoln Hall, Joe ran Monitor Mixes and learned the craft of live sound under the mentorship of Paul Massaro, Chris Gelin and Martin Stebbing. In 2014, Joe founded Smooth River Studio, and began freelancing full time. Career highlights include recording artists such as Lynval Golding, Dan Hubbard, Mozey, and Redlight Jazz, working on Audio crews for Lollapalooza and Pitchfork, Front of House Sound Engineer at SXSW and Something Good Fest, commercial post production audio editing for clients such as HEB, and recording audio for the San Antonio International Piano Competition.
“Joe did a fabulous job with my recording. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He was on time, communicated very well and was very professional. He is very talented in recording and mixing.”
